About Echo The Natives
American music producer Echo The Natives (aka Marco Robledo) has evolved from being a heavy metal guitarist in the late 90’s to an indie-folk producer/guitarist for Deux Coasts 2019. While traveling the country Echo The Natives was started in Columbia, SC (2015) as an experimental electronic project with with various percussionists.
Marco started his musical journey in Mountain View, California where a classical guitar laid around unused. An occasional strum from his father on this guitar inspired Marco to pick up this worn six string acoustic. MTV Unplugged became a window to see what was possible with music from an organic standpoint. One of the most memorable musical impacts was Eric Clapton’s Unplugged straight from the blues to the grunge of MTV’s Nirvana & Alice In Chains Unplugged.
In the late 90’s Marco became a nu-metal guitarist for local bands inspired by Korn, Deftones, and Soulfly which carried out his young aggression. This would be the catalyst to becoming a producer while spending time in studios and learning to produce music. From the studio experience came a greater appreciation for other genres of music such as folk/americana , electronic dance music, jazz, and so many other flavors.
Feeling the need to get back to California roots Echo The Natives relocated to Sacramento home of the Deftones. Emersion into the Sacramento/Roseville music scene resulted in discovering collaboration work with singers Mona V. (“Love Is”), Reverae (“Loyalty”), spoken word artist Bethany Crouch and members of the Sacramento Songwriter Circle.
Playing huge festivals like Alma West at Gibson Ranch Park to premiere shows with fellow artists at Sacramento’s Concerts in the Park have been career highlights. This includes being recognized by Sacramento News and Review for a Sammie Award nomination for Best Electronica/Experimental 2020.
Echo the Natives sonics are influenced by music producers like Tokimonsta, Odesza, and Finneas. Dance, RnB, and Hip Hop are major colors used in the crafting of an Echo The Natives song.
